What are migraines?
The most common type of pain vascular headache is migraine. Migraines are characterized by intense pain in one or both sides of the head, stomach upset, and sometimes altered vision.

What are the symptoms of migraine?
The symptoms of migraine may occur once before the headache, just before the headache, the headache during and after the headache. Although not all migraines are the same symptoms typically include:
- Moderate to severe pain, usually confined to one side of the head, but the subsequent change in migraine
- Pulsating and throbbing headache
- Increased pain during physical activity
- Inability to perform usual activities due to pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Increased sensitivity to light and sound
Many people experience migraines with auras just before or during the headache, but most do not. Auras are disturbances of perception, as the confused thoughts or experiences and the perception of light strange, bright or flashing lights in the visual field lines, blind spots, pins and needles in an arm or leg, or unpleasant odors.
